DON'T USE THEM!I was very disappointed with my DJ and Avalanche Entertainment as a whole. I selected the company after speaking with a DJ several months before my wedding. I paid my deposit and was given access to planning forms. I was assured that my DJ would be able to play any song I included on those forms and that my DJ would be in contact with me closer to the wedding to go over timelines, music selections, and atmosphere. Fast forward to 3 weeks before the wedding. I tried to call/email/etc my DJ to set up the final planning meeting and submit the planning forms. No response. After repeated attempts to contact the DJ I had booked, I emailed the general company inbox. I received a message from the 'president' of the company stating that the DJ I had booked had quit and I would be assigned a new DJ. I'm not sure why I had to repeatedly call them before finding this out, but whatever. They sent someone different. I was never given contact information for this new DJ. I was repeatedly assured that he would do a great job and would receive all the info I had gone over with the previous DJ and the information in my planning forms. The new DJ spoke with me by phone twice before the wedding, both times brushing off my questions/concerns about the music and assuring me the day would be perfect. It wasn't.On wedding day, the DJ arrived for the ceremony. The first two songs he played were Adele "Someone Like You" (depressing much?) and Carrie Underwood "Before he cheats" (seriously). What kind of DJ plays those songs to kick off a wedding?!?! To be fair, I hadn't specified these songs as "no play" songs in my planning forms - because I never would have expected to hear them at a wedding!!!! He kept starting songs, then pausing and playing the next - no tranisition, no smoothness, nothing. I could have done better on my mp3 player. In my planning forms and several emails, I specified exactly which songs I wanted played pre-ceremony and in what order. He didn't play them. I very clearly specified the parent's entrance song and then the wedding party entrance song. He played the wedding party entrance song (my song!!!) for the parent's entrance and then REPEATED IT for my entrance. Not OK.Moving on to the reception - the music was scratchy and didn't flow together well. He had issues with volume control - I didn't really need my first dance song blasted to the heavens. We made it through the dinner ok, and then it came time to kick up the dancing. He did play a lot of upbeat songs and people came out to the floor, but, for some reason, as soon as a song came on that got people out of their seats, he changed the music. Literally, he would play one verse of a good song, people would come to the dance floor, and he would abruptly change it to something else. We all got confused and there was a lot of stopping and starting on the dance floor. In the planning forms, I was asked to indicate 'must play', 'play if possible', and 'do not play' songs. The DJ played most of the songs on my don't play list, didn't play songs on my must play list, and actually didn't even have one of the songs on my must play list. I requested a song from my must play list ("Then" by Brad Paisley, very special to me and my hubby) when I got sick of the endless upbeat music and wanted a slow song to dance to and he was like "NOPE, don't have it." How is that possible?? Why did I even waste my time picking songs? We also requested a good mix of slow/upbeat songs... which clearly didn't happen. Finally, the DJ was asked to give the traditional wedding announcements - bride and groom entrance, buffet open, cake cutting, garter/bouquet toss, departure. He apparently LOST HIS VOICE!! So basically, our guests were confused, couldn't hear the announcements, and I (the bride) and a server had to repeat the announcements for him. A lot of my guests missed the cake cutting and tosses. The most common question at the reception was "what's up with this DJ? he kind of sucks..." I looked like an idiot for booking him and feel like he kind of ruined my wedding.I am extremely disappointed with this vendor and will not recommend or ever use them again. Many DJs in the area fall in the same price range and will probably provide better service.

DO NOT USE!!!Wow. What can I say about this company that's good? Not a whole lot.I originally booked them specifically because of one DJ. This DJ was apparently fired/quit about 2 months after I had signed contracts. No one bothered to tell me. I found out myself my noticing his name being removed from the website. I called, talked to Joel McGuire (owner) who explained that he was so sorry no one had contacted me and said he would pick a new dj for me. This isn't exactly a stellar response, but I figured I had no other choices. Literally every other DJ of theirs was booked. I figured this out after basically listing off every other dj on their site, he said none were available. After another month of not knowing what was going to happen Joel called and said he 'found' me a dj. DJ Joey Casanova of High Rock Entertainment. Well, I find out that this guy doesn't even work for them and he's a dj on his own that charges about $400 LESS per event than what I had already paid in FULL (BIG mistake!). I was furious. I scheduled a meeting with Joel for the next time I was in town (I live 6 hrs away) to talk about the situation. He agreed to do something to make up for the difference with my suggestion of them setting up a tv with a Wii for the kids. He agreed- a much cheaper alternative for him than giving me $400 back. I was pleased they tried to make amends at that time. Well, flash forward to day of wedding. The music was OK- I could have put a better mix together from my iPhone. Most was NOT from my list. He also played the WRONG song for our first dance. We both stood there staring at him from the dance floor. I said "this isn't our song" To which he was like "What? Yes it is" We were just frozen on the floor till he finally got the right song on. It really messed up that special moment for us. He never mentioned our photo booth so a lot of people didn't even know it was there. The speaker outside wasn't working half of the night and was just popping and making horrid noises. He wasn't even at his table half of the time and I actually had multiple people tell me after the wedding that they saw him smoking and drinking outside on the rooftop with my guests! Who does that? So when I returned from my honeymoon I wrote Joel with my concerns. He hasn't even bothered to respond and it is 2 weeks later. What a horrible joke of a company. They were so completely unprofessional that I am baffled they call themselves #1 in ATL.

Joel really does LOVE his job! And it shows when he runs your wedding. I had so many compliments on him. He was an active part of the wedding and not only played the perfect mix of music, but actually got on the dance floor with us!

I couldn't say better things about Kirkly who was the DJ reception at our wedding! I would recommend any bride who wants to have fun and enjoy their reception with great music and dancing with family and friends choose Avalanche Entertainment. Kirkly did exactly what we wanted, which was to get our guests out on the dance floor! I requested a few songs be played at the reception, but gave Kirkly full control and he met as well as went over and beyond our expectations. Many of my guests stayed later than expected, and told my new husband and I that it was mainly because they were enjoying the music and dancing so much! Kirkly went over and beyond our expectations, and made our wedding a lively party and event. He was wonderful to work with, professional, and came with a great personality every time we saw him!! No DJ can compare!!!

Our DJ was Joel McGuire with Avalanche, and he was awesome! We had guests telling us at the reception how great he was, and even after the wedding people are still raving about our DJ.Joel played exactly what we wanted during the ceremony, and it was perfect. He played great music during the reception, and was very interactive with the crowd. When someone requested a song that we had put on the "don't play list", he came and got our approval before the song was played. He has a wonderful personality...he's absolutely hilarious...and he was a joy to work with!

We used Ben from Avalanche Entertainment and were immensely pleased throughout the entire planning process with him. He did a good job at the wedding of keeping events moving along and played all the songs that we requested and none of the ones that we didn't want. The only detail that I could possibly complain about is that some of the songs that we special requested that weren't in the Avalanche catalog already were lacking in sound quality. But to be honest, I only noticed this after the wedding when listening to the cd that he had made for the event. Overall, great job!

We, and everyone else at our wedding, had a blast! This was largely due to our DJ. I would definitely recommend Avalanche entertainment for DJ services. They are a great company with 10+ DJs to choose from that have a wide range of capabilities and expertise.

Our DJ from Avalanche was Travis Gilbert. He was exactly as we wanted our DJ; energetic, crowd pleasing, and always kept the dance floor full. He was very easy to work with and tended to all of our needs. He even made a customized mix for a special dance for the bride. He listened to what we wanted and produced great results. While there were a few glitches in starting a few important songs, no one really noticed and we were overall highly pleased. We would definitely recommend him and Avalanche Entertainment for all of your DJ needs.

Travis Gilbert was the dj for my wedding November 14, 2009 in Roswell, Georgia. I can not say enough good things about Travis! He put my mind at ease regarding music and entertainment for my wedding, from the first time I called Avalanche Entertainment. I filled out an online form asking for more information, and was called by Travis less than an hour later! I know how busy people are, and I had expected to wait a few days to hear anything back about having a dj for the wedding. Needless to say, I was so excited Travis called right away! (Every bride loves to check off another task asap on their list :) ) Within the first five minutes of speaking with Travis, I knew I wanted him to be the dj for my wedding! Right off the bat, he really listened to what my fiance and I wanted for our wedding. I have to say I was a picky bride when it came to music...I have a conservative family, and I really didn't want any rap music or any inappropriate music. My husband and I really wanted to pick all of the songs played at the wedding, to ensure guests didn't request music that would make anyone feel uncomfortable. As soon as I let Travis know our concerns for the wedding, he really showed me that he would take care of everything. After speaking with him, I was no longer worried about the music...having one less thing to worry about during the wedding planning process was priceless. I got married outside of Primrose Cottage, and was somewhat worried about how the music would sound outside--would it be loud enough for all the guests to hear, etc. Travis took care of everything! The music was perfect outside! After the outside wedding, Travis transfered the music inside for our reception inside of the ballroom--also perfect! Everything with the music went perfectly at the wedding. What got me the most though, is an email Travis sent to me after the wedding. Usually, venues will send you a thank you note for choosing them--a standard sort of thank you note...This was not the case with Travis. Travis sent a detailed thank you note...describing a moment he witnessed during the wedding. (It was of my husband picking me up right after we walked down the aisle. We were so relieved everything was over and so happy about being married). It was so sweet that Travis saw this event and mentioned it (We weren't sure anyone had seen this). It was actually one of my favorite memories from the wedding, and I thought it was so nice for someone else to have commented on this! Travis went above and beyond his responsibilities during the ceremony and reception. If I ever have an event that requires music, I know who I will call.Thank you Travis for helping make our big day perfect!!Sincerely,Ellen and Josh

This company did our wedding video. It's been over four months since our wedding and we haven't received the final cut of the DVD. The owner / manager is unresponsive. We are working to get our money back through American Express.

I would recommend Avalanche. We had Travis as our DJ he did a great job keeping people on the dance floor. We gave him an absurdly long list of request songs, not with the intention of playing all of them, but just to give him an idea of what kinds of music we liked dancing to. We love latin dance music and told him, we actually met in Salsa classes, my husband and I. However the only salsa song he played was our first dance, even after we requested it. We were a little bummed but he did play some bachata and mereigne. Travis was on target with the phone calls and emails, we could always expect a response within a day. He did some extra work and looked up a few really hard to find unique songs, so that was a great surprise for some of my out of town and out of country guests. My bridesmaids said that he was a little rude to them when they told him to do a soul train line because they knew I wanted one. Apparently he made an announcement or something, but I was in my own dancing zone so I missed the memo. Overall, he was helpful and friendly to me and my husband and looked up songs that aren't on the normal wedding play list. I thought he went above and beyond and did a great job setting up a budget with us that worked. He even was a terrific resource for other wedding vendors.

Dan was the BEST DJ could have ever asked for! He is so funny and entertaining and really knows how to involve the crowd in the dancing and reception activities! He was very helpful and flexible since I was planning a wedding over 1000 miles away. He ALWAYS called me back the same day, and really put my nerves at ease when it came to the entertainment! The first time we talked on the phone, we talked for almost an hour and I booked him on the spot! He has an AMAZING taste in music! He didn't play a single song that we were unhappy with, and really listened to our wants and our taste in music (80's rock, DMB, Sister Hazel, Red Hot Chilly Peppers, etc), and incorporated it all into the evening! He showed up early, was dressed very professionally to fit the style of the day, and really made our event a TON of fun! We have been getting compliments for the past 2 weeks about how much fun our event was! I would HIGHLY recommend Dan for any event that is looking for a fun, energetic, very professional but quirky DJ. If we have any DJ needs in the future we will definitely be using Dan!!

Kirkley was our DJ and was fantastic! I was worried that people wouldn't dance (we had an older crowd), but the floor was packed all night. He knew just the right music to play and was always open to requests and suggestions. We had originally booked with Mike Watkins, but he moved to Kansas a few months before our wedding and we weren't told! That was the only problem I had. When we called to inquire about our services, we were then told that Kirkley would be our DJ. He was better than we ever expected and worth the money.

Everything started out great then my DJ called 2 days before the wedding and told me he wasn't going to be my DJ that someone else was. It upset me that he bailed on such short notice but the guys who came to the wedding were even better than I could have imagined.
